Game.On.
It's time to get serious, folks. The last 24 hours have made it imperative that Rafe and I are elected next Presidental season.

The dumbing-down of the revolution.

[some thoughts by jabber]
I agree with Frederick Douglas. "Agitate! Agitate! Agitate!" If the protest does not upset the system, it becomes just a part of the status quo process.

It's good to stand up and be counted, and I was very impressed to see the protest march the day before the RNC last over three hours. But the revolution was televised, and I eventually switched away and watched West Wing instead.

Sadly, people only complain when they're truly inconvenienced, and by then their means to affect a difference are sorely curtailed. It's gotten so that the only legitimate forms of protest are controlled, encapsulated, and isolated from being truly effective.

Which is sort of the point in the first place. Agitation is against the rules of convention, and it's getting so that it is practically against the law. When the Right to petition the government for a redress of grievances is rendered impotent, drastic, illegal, and even violent means are all that remain. There is precedent, but we're not longer an agrarian society and so things become, well, inconvenient.

To wit, Douglas's agitation is but a step shy of what is today considered "terrorism". Quite the end-run around the First Amendment, that one.

OFFICIAL PARTY ANNOUNCEMENT
The WILD TURKEY PARTY will be holding its first annual party convention this weekend at The Tampa Bay Brewing Company. Expected to speak are the usual suspects.

The convention will be a time of platform building, party fraternizing and many, many drinks. The delegates will gather to discuss the current state of political affairs, craft a party vision, and sample ale. Would you expect anything less from us?

Please submit nominations for delegate-hood to be posted below.

Thank You for Your Support.

WTP Fundraising plan
[X-posted]

Sometimes I feel like the press in the United States of American is on snooze. There's a very minor headline today about the fact that Bush is letting fundraisers sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom.

Helllllooooo!!!

This is the same sh*t they were all over Clinton about in the 1996 and 2000 elections. Somehow it's okay, though, because they're Republican fund-raisers. Okay, Shrub-o. That makes it all better. Not.

This is B.S.
I'm tired of politicians trying to hide their patrons and influences and mask their fundraising behind dinners and power-meetings and crap. I vote that the WildTurkeyParty host drinking parties for fundraising. We'll sell body shots off the Executive Branch candidates. That way there can be no confusing what's being offered to our loyal patrons. Lick it. Slam it. Suck it. Photos of the party will be provided to all media. Hell, even better - we'll webcast the damn things. We're a transparent organization. You want to buy influence in the WTP? Saddle up to the bar.

However, in the process, I may have inadvertently started political debate in my journal. Ack! *hehe*

As for my own political stance, the fine folks at The Polemic couldn't have said it better!

Today's Quote
A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against its government.
-Edward Abbey

My thoughts and opinions regarding Senator Orrin Hatch's (R-RIAA/MPAA) remarks on technology, as well as those of Senator Fritz Hollings (D-Disney) will be put forth shortly.

More WTP Pimping @ Salon
[Letter to the Editor, in response to Mr. Virtue Craps Out.]

Joan Walsh asks, while skewering Bill Bennett: "What happened to the libertarian wing of the Republican Party? What happened to the Goldwaters, the freedom-loving heirs of Jefferson, the dauntless defenders of the rights of the individual against a coercive, moralizing state?"

We formed our own party, thanks. http://www.wildturkeyparty.org

There are a lot of thoughtful, insightful political commentary sites out there that espouse precisely the kind of political philosophy Ms. Walsh is yearning for - Fran Porretto's Palace of Reason [http://palaceofreason.com] comes most immediately to mind.

There are a lot of people sick to death of politics and hypocrisy as usual, and we're as tired of the liberal/democrat whining as we are of the conservative/republican demagoguery, and feel that an honest-to-whatever third option, free of any Naderish tint and the well-meaning but ultimately mediapathic Ross Perot is, as Martha Stewart would say, A Good Thing.

Here ends the self-promotion. Just remember, in 2008, Salon heard of us first.

An Update from the WTP
Greeting Politically Debauched Citizens. We here at the WTP have been very busy recovering from a rousing Convergence success. Many new members were initiated! Many drinks were served!

We would also like to announce a line-up change. niugnep has agreed to act as our Campaign Manager for the 2008 run for President. We are looking forward to seeing what trouble he can get us into and how much hell he can raise on 'Crossfire' going head to head with Carville, For those not familiar, niugnep was the mastermind behind the 'Freedom Quarter' putsch in Nola. So, anyway.. a ROUSING welcome to our new Campaign Manager.

*looks around*
Hey! Why isn't our Campaign Manager in this community?!

Also, we here at the WTP are never resting on our laurels. Soon we will announce the first annual Wild Turkey PARTY CAUCUS to be held in Nola during the dog days of Summer. Never say we don't suffer for our constituents. The 1st caucus will be largely an affair of platform writing, embarrassing photo ops, resurrection of Fred and other important party matters. Details to follow under separate cover.

27 DRINKING DAYS
On behalf of the wildturkeyparty, I would like to present these helpful hints for Convergence Drinkers:

*Stock up on Gatorade. It will be your best friend at 7am when your head is pounding
*Liquor before beer = 'in the clear'
*Adopt a safeword amongst your friends to avoid embarrassing 'beergoggling' incidents
*Aspirin. It's not just for headaches anymore.
*Playing the nickel slots at Lady Luck will get you bombed for free. Plus, they have Elvira-themed 'sp00ky' slots

[These tips brought to you by the Wild Turkey Party. Sponsors of the Unofficial Convergence Seminar "How to get the most out of {and remember the least} of your Convergence Experience". Vote Sil and Rafe in 2008]
